WHAT DO YOU THINK!? MPC 1000!!

Please let me know if you think this is a good purchase or not,
I noticed that there wasn't much of a description so I decided to ask the seller a few questions.. check it out.

Me: Does this machine work perfectly?
any problems with the way it functions?? or is it in perfect working condition?

Me: Thank you, I appreciate it. One thing though, if possible could you tell me and be honest, what makes it "very" functional as opposed to "fully" functional. No matter what I'm interested.. i'd just like to know the work i'd have to put into it.

personally id find another one with a clearly listed return policy. as it stands its nice she offerd to let you send it back if unfunctional but without it in writing within the auction id say thats no good. the pads do look pretty worn. also i find it slightly odd the paypal "buyer protection on ebay" only says up to $315. (maybe thats just a ebay canada thing i dunno but...) i certianly wouldnt exceed that. usually the auctions i mess with say up to $2000... not to say dont get it, but if i were you. id find one with a clearly listed return policy for slightly more, in slightly less worn looking condition and with the 128mb ram upgrade. wouldnt be much more expensive.

plus not to be a dikc, but i wouldnt buy one froma chick. off ebay. maybe one or the other but not both.

just saw the second one too, it sounds "better" i guess but those pics arent the actual unit, so the pads on it could have poop stains or anything on it ya know. at least they offer insurance on it tho for $6 extra. def insure it if youre gettin it mailed.

Id save up and go with a new one with a warranty or if u can find a used one at guitar center with a warranty or return policy that would be nice also. ive never had this problem but some of the buttons not pads can get kinda sticky especially the A B C D full level 16 lvl buttons

yes, new one with warranty is the best bet.

You haven't got a bargain paying $600 for a used MPC 1000 if you have to pay for repairs, or if it has a significantly shorter lifespan, or if something goes wrong and your hot new track gets deleted forever.

Seriously, VST is offering a brand new maxed out (128meg memory + 60gig HD, installed) MPC 1000 for an easy $1000.

The amount of money you save (about the same as a new pair of shoes maybe), is not in any way worth the hassle and worry of getting something used.

Even if you are an ass-broke kid, it is better to save up a little bit longer and go for new: If you are ass-broke, you aren't going to be able to afford to drop the cash if the thing breaks - And you are going to be totaly ****' assed out if you get the thing from the ebay seller and it doesn't work.

The only situation I would recommend someone buying one used, is if maybe you wanted more than one (keep the good one at home for writing tracks, bring the crappy one out for live performance, or something like that).

Unless something is vintage and they don't make it anymore, buy new, always!

or if you're handy and you can get a good deal, buy used. find one that's displayed as "needs work" or "broken ____" and barter em down.

you can end up saving a couple hundred that way, even if you do end up having to buy new pads.

remember - besides the pads, most everything on the mpc1000 can be repaired with a part that costs under a dollar.

for example, the tact switches that are below all the small plastic buttons only cost me .02 or .03 c each (usd) since i bulk ordered em from hong kong.

but 600 for a used one...i'd have to handle it before buying it.
