Hi, may seem a bit of a dunce question but im new to mpc's. What are the 8-outs used for? Ive been offered an MPC 2000 for $800 with the 8 outs and FX board, is this an ok deal? the unit is in excellent condition. Also, is this model of MPC ok? Im also able to get a 3000 for $1400 in excellent condition. Im ordering online so I cant try either out first, but theyre both from a reputable dealer.

Thanks!

If you're gonna go 2k, get a 2kXL, especially for that price because it can't be a new 2k. Better storage options out the box (easy swap for card reader if unit doesn't come with it), better file organization (folders), multiple programs, separate bank buttons, and some other stuff that I can't remember right now because I own a 2k classic so they DON'T apply to me. AND, if you're really lucky, you can get one of the few 2kXLs with 64MB RAM! (No you can't because 32MB is the max, but some people FRAUDULENTLY advertise them for sale with 64MB.)

Peace,
KM

Yeah, its not new but its been serviced by an authorised Akai place, so I figure its ok condition wise, plus ive seen pics and it looks new.

From what youve said about the added specs the xl sounds good though, but they only have one for $1300 in mint cond. with the 8-outs, mcd and 32mb ram, its one of those SE ones, SE3 i think?

At that price though id probably go for the 3000. Would that be a wise decision in your opinion?

Thanks for the help by the way!

The 8 outs are to track ur individual beat elements out seperately to a multi track recorder or pc multi track software and interface..

So basictly ur kicks will be out 1 output into 1 input on ur mixer / soundcard / interface, snare will be out another output and into a next input.. etc etc etc

Otherwise without this it would be tiedious to track out each individual thing havin to mute each part and do them individually instead of all together at once.
