It's sad to say....

After all this time researching the MPC, dreaming about the MPC, posting/reading on the MPC forums, I do believe the marriage wasn't meant to be. I was SO certain the 2500 was gonna be the bread 'n butter of my studio setup. Hell, if I never woulda walked into guitar center I probly would have ordered it without even playin w/ the badboy. BUT, after spendin an hour or so in guitar center all that has changed. I toyed around w/ the MPC for a lil while, checkin out the build of it, checkin out the OS, all that good stuff. Didn't know wtf I was doin, but we've all had the feeling with our very first MP experience. I was diggin it to an extent, but for all the build-up in the MPC world, I wasn't that impressed. Then I came to the MV8800 in the corner. Oh boy. I respect every MPC user to the fullest, but hear me out, Roland has themselves a machine. The interface is amazing, the ease-of-use is exceptional, and the overall feel is just nice man. It's just so weird cuz I dont know how many of u guys have read my posts, but I was puttin so much energy into learnin everything about the MPC I almost forgot Roland had the MV out there. So I hate to say, but I'm not gonna be overloading these forums with questions/demos like I saw myself doin. I wish you all the best of luck, and you'll still see me wanderin around here every now and then

lol people might like diffrent things but go mess with the 4k thats the big boy of the mpcs lol its the closest one to the mv but i got a 1k and wouldnt trade for anything probably only another mpc

Dont let urself get caught up in this equipment fashion sh!t man, (well it seems u havent and thats good).. just get whatever machine suits u, wether its a roland or 2 tape decks with play / pause / record buttons.. as long as it suits u and ur needs thats all that matters..

Theres too much emphasis on what peeps use and its bullsh!t, peeps talkin sh!t like "mpc users unite" when it should be artists / musicians or hiphop heads unite etc...

U dont have b boys talkin all this Shell toe wearers unite etc.. its simply bout the b boys no one gives a f**k what trainers they rockin, it aint gonna effect theyre windmills... only how they look.

Why u think theres so many beat vids on youtube from wack and so so beat makers? really if they had skills and was doin this simply for the enjoyment / life they would let theyre music speak for themselfs but the fact is they are posers, and wanna pose with theyre mpc's.

As u mentioned there was all this hype up untill u tryed it... exactly, hype.. nothin more then that.. it all comes down to the individual and what they think / prefer.

U get peeps on these forums talkin that they dreamed about mpc's, thats some bullsh!t and shows peeps are more focused on the equipment then the music its self.

Just do u man, play with diff systems, find what works best for u.. dont just go by what people talk about on forums but go look into some other equipment that rarly gets discussed, and find whats best for u to work with.. not what "looks the best" and "got the most hype".. dont believe the hype man its bullsh!t..

Peeps on here talkin all these mods talkin bout mpc's lookin sexy.. its a f**kin machine, with buttons and sh!t... do they find theyre blender sexy? or theyre dvd player? fridge freeze? microwave? toaster? printer? computer mouse?? its simply a machine with a function, ignore the hype and find a machine which functions nice for u.

what ever machine fits you best like com said. Pick a machine and master the ins n outs.

just IMO, the mp is the way to go, as far as my main unit. Wouldnt have it any other way.

If more people looked at things like c0mplex did there would be a lot less people buyin into the whole hype ordeal. I began to myself for a while, just for different reasons. Seeing DJ Premium get his setup goin on that classic song opened my eyes to the whole MPC world and I went diggin....deep. But you are correct, it ultimately comes down to what pieces of equipment are going to fit you best. Hopefully I'll still get some good tips/convos/production techniques from you guys over here. Its def a good community, as MV Nation doesn't get enough posters. (THE MPC WORLD HAS SUCKKED THEM ALL IN!!!)

I dig the MV line. I actually had the 8000 early on, and got to demo it for a month. I've had a few of the later iterations at my disposal, on and off, afterwards. But, as much as I enjoyed them they didn't offer me anything that I couldn't already do -- and I saw no real reason to change up. I'd get an MV easy in another situation, but I'm not trying to spend time learning it currently when I could spend time learning artistically technical things (as opposed to mechanical things).

If I knew what I know now and was looking to buy my first machine, I think I'd still go with the MPs. But, if I didn't know what I know (or rather, if I didn't have a history with MPs), but knew a lot, I'd probably go with the MVs. It's hard to go MV for most people, when the MPs do what you want. I feel the same way about the 2500 though, the 4000 and 2000xl are the newest I'm interested in -- not because the later machines are trash, it's just that I don't see any reward for me, from them.

The MVs are nice machines that can do quite a bit if you learn them, same with the MPs. If it works for you, go with it. Let the gearsluts hug their gear and keep it moving. You'd have been a fool to buy a MP if it wasn't as appealing as the MV to you. Hopefully you wasn't wooed by cosmetic appeal though, and instead were by functional appeal. If so, you have a lot to play with and tons of options man. It's an ill machine.
