anyone know where i can get spare q link sliders?

my mpc 1000 sliders are broken and i want to fit some new ones.

Does anyone know the manufacturer/ supplier of these sliders and what their part name is.

I was thinkin they might be available through RS, Digikey, CPC etc.

if you desolder the sliders and then take well documented pics (next to a ruler in inches and mm) then send that picture to companies like mouser, they can give you the specs and possibly part number.

this is something i'm very interested in doing as well, though my sliders are working fine i want to actually upgrade them to some nicer alps faders or something in the future.

i work for an electronic engineering company so ill be able to sort something out i guess- ill show the more experienced engineers the sliders and see if they have any suggestions for higher quality alternatives etc. Ill let you know what i find as soon as i find out myself.

The sliders have some sort of part number on them so ill see what i can find. Looking at the PCB boards and components does make you realise that these things arent really made for the road - no matter what AKAI and the magazines would have you believe! the terminal blocks and switches etc are crap as can be! oh well eh.

Just out of interest -are the more expensive MPC's components and parts (2500 etc.) of a higher quality.

same tact switches on other models.

i dunno - i carry my mpc in a laptop bag daily and it's gotten banged around a bit. i've replaced 1 tact switch and 1 rotary encoder since 2004. and the pads, but that's a design flaw rather than me having carried the thing around.

the thing i don't like about the tact switches and rotary encoder is that it's soldered directly into the board and the resulting force from actuation/spinning goes directly down onto the board. the force is transferred, there is no buffer like there is on mackie stuff. this is dumb.
