I just got a voicemail from Nick he said he got an email from akai saying the pads will be released in late July. There still in production.

Did he say if there are plans to add the re-designed pads to newly manufactured MPC 1000s?

Come on, Jah! This is the same company that has not updated the flawed OS they expect us to use.

I dont have a 1k, but Im thinking about maybe gettin one. What is wrong with the pads? I always read about the pads getting replaced and stuff like that. Are the pads on the 2500 bad too?

Akai provided the hardware...JJ doing the OS..perfect marriage?? But if they are re-engineering the pads, it seems that should be doing something else on a bigger scale...perhaps making an MPC 1000XL with the re-engineered pads, making the JJ OS official, and maybe even adding adjustable LCD. I might even pick up one of those...maybe..

Now if Akai releases the new pads (thanks to you efforts) will you still continue to support them?

"should" is different than "historically would"
will i continue to support what?

Look at you , Jah! You criticize JJ for not coming out with a bug free OS, criticize Akai for the 1k, now you are excited about a marriage between the two? :o  Don't get me excited thinking about the possibilities of a 1000XL. That would be very nice. I love my machine and if it died for some reason, I would buy another one in a heartbeat.

What's with them extra pads? Where can I get it? Does it come with built-in speakers? Where is the headphone jack? :D

I just point out the obvious. While I wouldn't use the word excited, it seems like a logical step for Akai to re-release the MPC 1000 with the new pads and possibly add further improvements to it's hardware design. They can just take JJ's work, use their resources to iron out any remaining wrinkles, and slap an Akai logo on it, and install it in every MPC 1000XL.
