Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500
By Eufanasia Fri May 25, 2007 10:06 pm
wats up I just got my MPC 500 today, the problem I'm having is connecting the 500 to my comp to make beats thru cubase, I dont want to use it as a stand alone, I have the output connected to my Pro Tools digi001 interface input, and the input connected to the output of the interface, but i can neither hear anything out of the thing nor sample anything from it, I think I have to use a midi cable and a midi soundcard, because I just have a regular soundblaster soundcard

Any help would be greatly appreciated

If you can afford the 1000 there is no reason not to get it rather than the 500,except the issuse with the 1000's pads and there are hundreds of dudes on these forums that have replaced their pads. With that said I wouldn't even let the pads stop me if it was my decision. You will probably have just as hard of a time connecting it to your PC though, seeing it's the same connection and process.

Yeha, but you see I got it on finance from a music store, they had to order it cuz they dont keep them in stock, so to go exchange it, they'd probably charge me a bunch of shit, restockin fee, taxes whatever and i'd have to wait again for it to come in, might as well just fuk with this, i dont really care about the screen or the pads, i dont wanna use it as a stand alone, i bought it so i can use it together with cubase like my friends do, if it works like every other MPC with some less physical features, it doesnt bother me, now even a better reason not to return it, cuz the 1k is the same connection process, for a second i was worried the 500 wasnt really compatible with any software.
