SCSI Chaining. 2000xl ->ZIP->CD-R/RW

Whats up folks. Im gettin ready to chain my 2000xl to a zip and cd drive. Are there any issues i should be concerned with before doing this?

Are there any system requirements issues with newer cd drives that might cause any problems?

Are there any particular hierarchy guidelines when chaining the XL to a zip and a CD-R/RW?

Nope just make sure all of your external drives are on different numbers.......and dont use "6" it will cause conflict with the mpc

Good lookin Phatz. Do you have yours connected to PC? I've been told that doing that is risky business. I hit up Akai about it and tech support gave me the no go. Then again, I'm a MAC user. I'd like to no some more about your setup though dawg. Cause that is Niiice!

My rig is like that as well, I have a zip drive and cd burner on a daisy chain hooked to the mpc and the pc with a scsi card in the pci slot.

I am able to see the wav files from the cd burner and the zip drive on the computer. My computer does not see the mpc nor can I transfer files from the computer to the mpc and vice versa, I have to use the middle drives. If installed correctly your computer should see them as removalble drives. This allows me to edit samples or sounds I may have on my computer, I can then edit them and add necessary effects or compression or what ever and then write them into the mpc editor program and then save them onto zip drive if the collection is under 100mb, if its over that and much larger like 500mb to say then I just write it to a cd-rom. I didnt have a cd burner on my computer when I first got into using the computer for multi-tracking and when I brought the cd rom for the mpc the people a comp usa took me for bad, I ended up paying like $425.00 for a scsi cd rom / burner rw that was in 1999, I dont even know if "smart and friendly" are still making products now, but thats my story

what's the matter with not using scsi ID 6?
I got a harddrive that got ID 5 and I wanna add a zip drive that can only switch between 5 and 6.
so do I have to change the ID of my harddrive (it this is possible) or do I have to use 6 for my zip drive (and will this cause conflict)?
....help apprechiated....
