if i wanted a turn table just for sampling, can i sample staight to the mpc or do i need a mixer.

need a mixer, unless u get one of those turntables that dont use a ground wire , just rca cable

I'd probably go with the Numark TTX USB turntable... no experience though, but for sampling/recording stuff from vinyl they prolly should do just fine.

This guy is using a Numark PT-01, so theres no need for a mixer as it has line level RCA outputs so straight into MPC..And it's cheap..I'm thinking of buying one.

truth is, for sampling, you don't need anything more than a 20 dollar belt driven turntable from goodwill. don't spend 100 dollars on a pt01 unless you want to use it portably.

the speed is controlled by a sine wave outputted from your computer, laptop, OR mpc. you can control the pitch and speed of your sine wav and thus control the pitch/speed of your Altmann. this means you can set a qlink to pitch on a SINE wav sample and play your tt speed accordingly.

ie - slow the speed of the altmann waaaaaay down, sample the record at very low speeds, then pitch it up in the mpc. this is the opposite of saving sampling time by pitching up on the tt, sampling, then pitching down in the mpc (which gives you a more brassy, lofi sound). with the altmann, you can downpitch and then pitch UP in the mpc - using a bigger file and giving you ultra glossy audio.
