And honestly I am feeling even worse and worse for this guy, since I was still curious as to why he wanted so much originally and wouldnt budge It still left me curious so I broke out a handfull of the records and just figured I'd do some quick checks on ebay...WOW is all I can say...

there pretty much wasnt one record in the stack I grabbed that is selling for less the 10 bucks and there were a handfull of records from france and them sh!ts was bringin in 50 and 60 bucks a POP!!

needless to say I can now see why he wouldnt budge from 300 and even at 300 bucks I think it would have been a steal....so u kno im cheesin like a mah fugga right now...

djobserv - way to many titles to list I have found that alot of the collection is jazz but theres loads of just random genres and alot of other versions like japan,france etc...and to answer ya other question Yea I have been using ebay as a guide I have no other options...but to check whats selling/sold on ebay...atleast to get a ruff idea, I have made a thread on here about guides or books etc but no one really seemed to have any dead set ways on how to find the value of a record...or sh!t even a starting point...and personally I am one that cares what its worth because once I go through it and there is nothing on it that I want to sample then to me the record is useless and will get put in the "sell" pile...

if you have a better route or option to finding the worth or value or a record PLEASE chime in and let me know...

e.d.e- for sure mayn I normally look at sold and selling just to get an idea of what other people may be selling or sold theirs for....

Dude, I swear to God my man at the local record spot has this book - and we're talking something thats 5/6 times thicker than the Yellow Pages - which lists nearly every record ever pressed - and it's current calue based on condition. I'm not sure what it's called, but thought I'd let you know such a resource exists.....

Try someone who works in the record wholesale industry or talk to your local record shop guys (when you're not hittin up dude's wives for their husband's records!).

I hear u man, but there really isnt many "shops" fairly close...pretty much just thrift stores, goodwills etc. so my odds of finding the name of the book are slim...

if u happen to come across it or the name PLEASE let me know...I have done some searching for books/price guides and I have found a buntch but then when looking on amazon for reviews of the books most people were very disatisfied....saying the book didnt list most artists and they leave out alot of genres etc.

So Im either looking for a site or book or anything that can give me a good idea of what values a record may carry....

I dont give sh!t I'll buy the damn thing its just getting the name of a good book right off the bat I dont want to waste hundreds of dollars going trhough dozens of books untill i find "the one" u kno??

Harry, you could always try musicstack.com as that lists multiple copies of records (alot of random sh!t I've never heard of in particular) and a wide selection of prices which might give you a good idea of it's average value. Alot of the listings also details what condition the record are, so that would probably help you get a good idea what value your little treasure trove of goodies is worth!

THOSE BOOKS ARE OUT DATED i bet you , what them guys use those books for are to see how rare the record is but price wise they will give you a price for a mint copy and that means it almost has to be not played or still sealed.

theres some good books from the UK that have some really good knowledge on some records i need to pick it up cause that one will give you a idea of more or less how to price them as to how rare it is or how many copys were made .

i cant remeber the name of it but i will find out.
