Mpc4000 Pad Sensor

Hello All

I am happy with myself today. A week or so ago I notice a couple pads on my 4k stop triggering or responding. I took the 4k apart and check the pads and pads seem fine. But, some how there was a knick in pad sensor ribbon and that was causing the pads not to work. Moving the ribbon around caused more pads to fail.

Luckly I was reading a post in the 1000 or the 2500 side of the forum about pad failure, before I notice my problem on the 4k. It might have been in the 1000 side of the forum and I came across the mpcstuff.com link.

Anyway, I ordered a new pad sensor with the ribbon from mpcstuff.com for $77.50 with shipping included. Got it in the mail. Installed it last night with no problem.

Like to give a shout out to the mpcstuff.com website. Luckly there is a website to order all mpc repair parts and now my 4k is back into business.

how did u install it? i'm having the toughest time getting mine in.

I had to go back to the old one with the dead pads.

did the replacement sensors say "Interlink Electronics" or "Sensitronics?"

Curious? Whats the difference?

a couple differences:

interlink=old akai, sensitronics=new akai
i suspect interlink=more expensive, sensitronics=less expensive

both=Franklin Eventoff, designer of the force sensing resistor.

eventoff used to work for/run interlink electronics
now he's w/ his new company, sensitronics

similar FSR technology, a little less "factory" lookin
same (again, similar) quality sensor though.
the real important part of these pressure sensors is whether or not the machine itself as proper calibration control, which i presume the 4000 does.
