The Internal memory is a separate memory type from the main memory. You can overwrite it by saving a "blank" memory dump to it, but I don't think that will give you any more space for samples in main memory (can anyone confirm this)?

The internal memory is a flash memory of 2 megs (if I remember correctly) in which you store samples and programs permanently for frequent use (autoload from flash memory)

It is completely unrelated to the memory space the samples load into for playback. Think of it as an internal hard drive. It's just like the CF cards that come with it or you buy for it, only less spacious.
