HD Format ?

HD Format ?

I see that JJ suggests that when u update your OS to format your HD. This erases everything saved on it correct? So I'd need to transfer 9 GB of sounds back forth to my desktop every time I update?

Format is at it's most basic a complete redo/zeroing of the hard drive. Nothing will be kept during a reformat. Same definition as in the computer world.

Unless otherwise stated as a "keep something else" feature.

Nothing is kept.

You read it wrong.
That was if you still had the file structure problem after moving to the JJ OS.
It was to get rid of the carry over problems the Akai formatting had caused.
You aren't supposed to do it everytime youupdate and most of use never did it at all since the file structure problem didn't show with the JJ OS.

I did the format once just to be safe. I was unclear on whether or not to format after every update. Could it be the google translation is hard to follow? Probably my terrible reading comprehension.
