When I press a pad on my MPC1k it often (maybe 25% of the time) results in the sample being triggered two or more times. I've played around with pad sensitivity settings a bit but that doesn't seem to help. I tried the pads on a unit at Guitar Center but it doesn't seem to do this. I bought mine used so I'm not sure if the pads are messed up somehow or if there is just some OS setting that I need to change to make this stop. I'm still a total newbie with it so hopefully it's something simple. Any ideas? Thx!

multiple triggering is not likely to happen with faulty pads (they will rather not trigger at all...) so I guess it's just you who are doing multiple taps without noticing, it happens quite often.

I agree to an extent. But the pads on the 1000 are more prone to multi-triggering than any other model previously made.

i don't agree with this at all. i owned a mpc 2000 nonXL from 1999 to 2005. i bought it brand new. from the first week i owned it i could flam the pads. its a technique you can learn to control. it was definately easier to do on the 2000.

you can probably learn to control or avoid if by paying attention to when it happens. the movement needs to come from your wrist and not your elbow if you want your finger to be able to bounce on the pad (fast on its own like a drumstick). you also need a quick hard strike. you can not either try to keep your fingertip on the pad or try to quickly pull your finger up off the pad. its more something you have to learn to create the possibility for it to happen until it really becomes natural and you do it without thinking about it. if you try too hard you wont be able to make it happen.

It is good to hear that this is probably a technique problem rather than a hardware problem. I'll keep at it and see if it helps! Thanks for all the comments and suggestions!
