Changing a file from iTunes to be read by MPC.

I was wondering how would i get a file from my itunes to be able to be used in my MPC. I was going to Audacity but i think i did something wrong. The file is in mp3 format. Any suggestions?

Change this mp3 file to wav.
Audacity is surely capable of opening mp3 file and converting it to different format, wav as well.
After opening just choose the option "save as" and choose wav.

R u pretty new to the 1000? if u trynna sample a song from itunes or anyother sound from your cpu its all the same. Just go down to ur local music store and get a male cable that's a standard(like the end for you headphones) on one end and has 2 quarter males on the other end.
Plug the single standard end to the cpu and the 2 quarter male ends to the RECORD IN on the 1000. I don't know if this was the reply you were looking for of if i misunderstood your question but hopefully this helps. Peace [/u][/i]

Yeah, i'm pretty new. Just bought it last semester and just got to open because all i had been doing is studying for finals. I have a mbox2 interface because i'm running protools as well does that make a difference in the setup? didn't know if i could just run it thru the mbox2.

No, when refering it to the subject of your topic.

By the way, why would you want to convert the whole song into wav and put it in mpc's memory? Since you start from the computer anyway, why not chopping this mp3 (converted to wav) file in audacity and saving the pieces you want as wav files and then putting them in the machine?
Unless of course you are planning on doing something with a whole song...

Was gonna use just part of it, but actually chose the wrong file when converting, rookie mistake.

The sample needs to be in wave format to work on the MPC

Itunes-->preferences-->importing-->import using wav encoder---> go to library window-->select track or sample-->advanced pulldown menu-->convert selection to wav.

you can do this to a playlist to batch process a bunch of tracks at once.

but if you have protools i would take the tracks in there, consolidate and grab the hits you need from there. why use audacity?

Although Pro Tools doesn't have MP3 format support straight out the box - U have to by an add on for the program - Pretty sh!t - but just use Itunes like Paulie says....
