What MPC Did You Choose And What Made You Choose it?

I chose akai s2000 rack sampler because I enjoy sequencin on computer, the s2000 is real cheap (but always 2nd hand), and it gives best of both worlds incorperating both nicely (hardware and pc/software).

I really wanna replace my midi keys with an mpd24 (not replace as such but incorperate along with my midi keys) to complete my beat makin set up.. But at the moment i think they lil over priced and would rather see if it drops in the next year or so.

LOL so you havent really decided anything.. you just said you were going to possibly buy each mpc that exists besides the 3000 and the 60. Anyways.. I dont have time to answer all your questions, but I will say that you should be lookin at the mpc comparisons forum... there are tons of threads dedicated to deciding between the mpcs.

I had the 1ooo first
and I loved it; I still think it's a good machine and it has a lot of features but
now I have the 3ooo and there's no way I'm going back
the overall feel of the 3ooo is just superb and the pads respond very well
there's only a lo pass filter though
but I can do what I need to do with my mixer so that's not a problem
and even though i can only have one program running at a time
that's really all I need
if I ever need more than 64 sounds in a beat then I can just go to my DAW
but that has'nt happened yet

lol i didnt realise that there are benefits to each one. I love the price of the 2000 i love the storage options of the 4000 the 2500 is sexy to me and the 1000 seems to be the bare essentials which i think its kinda all i need i will most likely get the 1k especially after talking with a few cats who have owned a few different mpcs and telling me that the 1k is a great piece and a lot less people have had pad problems than i thought I think the 1k may be right for me especially if i can find a used one

well if i was a starter ill start with a 2k, 2kxl, or 1k it has all the features you need but then its your decision on what you want 1k its more updated and is better with computer but then you can go with 2kxl to get that classic feel and bigger pads its all up to you i have a 1k and love

aight well honestly, I picked the first one I was hipped to. At the time I didnt know SH!t about hardware and I didnt take the time to read into it. one of my boys at work who made beats at the time recommended I buy an mpc. i was using FL at the time. He talked to me about it and pretty much sold me on it before I saw the thing. He had a 2000 and told me to look into it. I searched ebay and found a used 2000 no options for $750. Just so happened I was gettin my Tax return that week and well, I jumped on it and never looked back

Like many others, I did my research and worked out what I needed. I was originally going to go for the 1000, but ended up going for the 2500. I like the feel of it and it's pretty robust. I use it with an S900 sampler for flavour.

I grew up on the S1000 / S2000 samplers many years ago and have always leaned towards the Akai stuff.

got a 1000 this time, purely because it was cheap and I needed a 'studio away from home' while staying in Japan this year.

it's alright, and does the trick, but I'd really like a MV roland hooked up to a LCD monitor, with mouse.

Im choosing the MV8800 for the ease-of-use, great features, and what it offers compared to that in its price range

I got the 4k.
I need an all in one box. Got tired with new windows updates, hd crashes, software updates and shit. I want a stable hardware machine for my music.
I m very pleased, its an awesome machine for it's age.

I'd say, it's an awesome machine because of its age...

I started with a MPC 60. It was so simple and straightforward, I was able to figure it out without ever seeing a manual. It also was the heart of my studio for 15 years. That being said, by the time I got rid of it (for a 4k) I had added two additional samplers and various outboard effects to compensate for it's limitations.
As your music skills grow, there's gonna be alot of things you'll want to do (hear in your head) that may require you either think outside the box (MPC) or upgrade to a MPC with more capabilities. The other option is to get the 4k and be done with it.....

I got an MPC 1k i got it cause I liked it

MPC 1000 with JJOS is basically an MPC 2500. It's compact and easy to use. For me its perfect because I don't produce for money, just as an amateur, so I can justify a purchase under 1000 dollars for a hobby. The pads aren't an issue for me. Even if they were, there is nyms pad fix and akai coming out with pad replacements soon. I'm a fan of the 1k
