there are several ways:


grid edit in JJOS

sample several drum rolls

place multiple drum sounds on different pads (i.e. at different velocities, attacks, etc.) and roll away

Step edit a track

place multiple drum sounds on a single pad and roll it that way

sometimes ill put the same snare sample on 2 different pads and adjust the filter so it sounds a little different. then hit the pads and edit the velocity in the grid edit.

make sure you turn off the time correction, otherwise it will sound programmed obviously.
