1000 vs 2500 - what real advantages will I see?

I'm on the 1000 right now (used a 2000 years ago for a bit), but I....

1. don't like the non-adjustable screen (I'm a mad golfer, and get neck pain-no shit),

2. don't like the small pads (as well as 2000 I have mpd16 with my reason/PT6.7 setup back home), and don't like the fact that my pads are probably going to **** up soon, like everyone who has a 1000.

3. don't like the usb 1.1 slow ass connection.

4. don't like the fact that it only accepts notebook size 2.5" hard drives. I have a 40gb which is cool, but could have bought a 120gb for the same price for a 2500. (they take 3.5" drives right?)

5. I want more of a 'fat bastard' of a machine sitting in front of me. The 1000 is such as little wimpy thing. I don't know....

6. If the CD drive (optional) on the 2500 can record 'bounced' or 'rendered' wav songs, then I'd be really happy, but not sure if this is possible without recording into a daw first.

Anyway, I'm hoping users of both machines can point out why or why not it's worth upgrading, keeping in mind the extra expense, which isn't such as huge deal, but worth considering (since I could spend that money on records).

well put it this way, if you want those extras you just mentioned, it will be worth for you to get the 2500.

thats all it is really, seems you already know what its capable of. you said u want a bigger machine, with better pads, tilt screen.

those things alone are advantages so if you want that then sell ur 1000 and get the 2500.

yeah... ......I'm half sold I guess.
