Okay, Somebody is full of SH?T!

The other day I read the saying that akai was going to release a new design for the mpc 1000 pads and I thought to myself great its about time. Nothing against nyms pad fix but I would rather go OEM if akai had got their act together. I called akai this morning because I wanted to get some information on the design and they were acting like they didnt know what the hell I was talking about? I then got transferred to someone in parts or somewhere and she had openly commented and said herself that "ALL OF THE MPC 1000 PADS WILL BREAK DOWN AND SHE WAS AWARE OF THE DESIGN DIFFERENCE IN THE LARGER MODELS" but she also doesnt know anything about a new pad design for the MPC 1000 which I found to be really funny because she started defaulting to corporate talk and stumbling over her words. LOL!........Really I laughed out loud on the phone with her. Anyway I need some damn pads and this is the 5th or 6th
time I've called akai about something and they've played dumb. Either someone is posting some bullsh*t and creating stories about contacts at akai giving up information or akai needs better people answering their phones. Whats going on? I was going to ask them whats next for the MPC series but I knew they wouldnt give up the goods.

I would also like to know whats up before I buy some new pads for my 1k.

relax man. i don't recall anyone saying they recieved this info from akai. the info came from nick at vst.

I doubt akai would say something, they just dont give out info about developing products, im suprised you even got somebody that knew what a 1000 was...every time i've called akai its some person who acts as if they know nothing.

now if whoever posted about nick tipping them off...is serious about contacting nick...then i'd believe it...if he even contacted nick...why would he have him not buy something..and wait..especially if theres no pad fix coming..thats losing poetential money on his businesses end.

I dont know but I understand how you run a business with like that with a bunch of idiots and assholes. Akai's customer service sucks! They never know anything about their own products and that is very weird to me. One day they transferred me to a big wig at the company and we talked about the 1k pads and he was asking me how I knew about interlink and other things. They act like the Bush administration when you ask them questions!

OEM parts are usually the cheapest parts. The 1000 is kinda like a car-are you going to replace the exhaust with a restrictive oem exhaust system or are you going to get an aftermarket one that causes your car to run better, get better mpg... you get my point-or at least I hope you do-I don't know nym nor do I own his pads, but I sure ain't buying replacment pads from Akai-redesigned or not-

nick knows his stuff. i haven't heard it from him personally but if folks have called and he has responded with what you've heard, i'd trust nick.

frankly, never call akai for customer service. the folks i called didn't even know that akai had a different pad structure for the 1k than the other models. fking monkeys on telephones over there.

Its just frustrates me that the company that makes a particular machine doesnt know anythign about it. Fortunately there isnt that much to it to learn if you have an overall knowledge of the machine and its functions but still!

A company is very unlikely to release information to a customer over a customer support line before the official release. However, Akai sales might need to get distribution networks sorted before hand so it's possible that the story is true. Or, like you said, someone could be full of
