hi everyone!
this weekend I've been loading lots of drum machine samples into my mpc1k. I made folders for each sample & program set. my mistake was to name the snare drums the same in several folders. mpc1k doesn't care about my folders on the flash card, so the machine didn't load the right sample into my programs. :(
that's why you'll need to give each sample a unique name.

I use this to my advantage. When I create a drum kit, I name everything by the pad I assign it to. Then I can swap out drum kits but still keep the sequence the same (ie-not change the program). Lets me A/B edited kits, since I have to do extended editing on the pc. (I don't have a problem loading the samples...they get wrapped up in a single directory)

When i sample a sound, i name it after the record i got it from, like if the singer's name is chuck, the samples are titled chuck01, chuck02, etc.
