1. Takes a couple of minutes to start
2. Is not recognized by my PC as a disk
3. When I try to record, I see the input levels, but I can hear no sound
4. Sometimes the audio ouput drops to a whisper, even with full level and main volume selected

BUT, if I remove the CF card that came with it, it works, except for USB connections....

welcome to the forums...

1. this is not normal, even if autoload is set to load 20 mb samples the machine needs about 30 sec for the start.
2. is there a harddisk built in? its an option, so check if you have it. then you have to set the save/load page to harddisk. computer can only see hdd or cf-card at a time.
3. turn monitor to on.
4. this also is not normal, except if this is happening in conjunction wit midi modules not muting correctly. for this search the forums as it happened to others as well.

and read your manual... 8)

1Really? Try a factory reset and loading the latest OS - after backing up.
2It doesnt work like that. You have to go to load screen then select USB, once this is done your PC should Detect it as a USB device.
3Monitor On
4What are you routing through? MPC - AMP, or MPC - MIXER - AMP?

I dont mean to sound like an ass but did you get a blinkin manual?

Thanks for the replies! The problem seems to be with the CF card that came with it. When I start up without it, everything seems to work, meaning I can record fine, make beats et c. Monitor is on, and I get sound. If I start up with the CF card in, start takes a few minutes, and nothing seems to work right. I know how to connect to the pc, I've read the manual. The pc recognizes a USB device, but can't access the CF. I've tried pressing "mount" on the mpc, but no luck. I tried to format the CF in the mpc, but when I try to do that it says "Insert memory card". If I try to load from the CF I get a flashing long cursor, but I can't get into the card. I searched the forums, and some other members seem to have got bogus cards earlier...

EDIT

I looked into the CF reader slot on the MPC and 2 of the pins are bent upwards, and look like they're twice as long as the others. It doesn't look like that on my pc's card reader.

It's supposed to be new. Already talked to the sales man, I'm getting it replaced tomorrow.

Everything is working except accessing the cf. DAMN it's easy to make beats on this though. Record - chop - bang.

Akai's new OS update just came out, too, so you might want to install that if it suits your needs.
