Motif rack

Lets say i go and get myself a motif es rack right? Now, if i dont have a mulitimberal keyboard will it still be? In other words will it allow me to record multiple sounds in a track? Bassline, melody, horns, etc.?

Yep, it'll still be multi. All of my sounds are from modules, except for the ASR, R-8 drum machine & softsynths.

I think I can help. I have an ES rack as well. I select a multi and assign the voices I want (parts 1-16). On the MPC, use a track for each voice. Example, if voice 1 in the multi is a bassline, track 1 in the MPC is a bassline (select 1 A or B if you have it that way). Then for say some guitar, if it's voice 2 in the multi, put it on track 2 in the MPC and 2A or B whichever you have the cable plugged into. I hope this helps.

It helps a bit. What I need is for track 1 to be my bassline. Track 2 to be my guitar, 3 horns, etc. Now with all those tracks set in the mpc, will i be able to record each individual track into the mp via my (non-multitimberal) keys. Even tho my mpc and rack are? I just want to record the sounds of the rack into the mp with my key cause i cant really "play" on something with 16 pads as far as basslines and melodies go. Plus some of the notes jump around when i try to play sounds via the mp. So for me its kinda impossible unless i can stretch out on a keyboard. BTW the keyboard i have is a POS yamaha psr gx-76.

Well, I used to use a POS Yamaha DJX as my MIDI controller. If I'm not mistaken, I'm pretty sure the keyboard doesn't matter as long as it passes along MIDI. As long as you you switch the track and the MIDI channel does when you do it, the keyboard shouldn't even care. All it is worried about it which note, when, how long, how hard. Maybe there's a way to turn off your internal soundboard on your keyboard. When I got the Motif ES Rack, I had to turn off the internal sounds on the DJX. I don't know much about the keys you have, but I know I had to use the manual to learn how to shut mine off. Hope this helps!

Switch the track in what? the mp, the rack or the keys? The keys dont switch.

He's talking about corresponding the tracks with the midi channels. You switch both the channel in the module as well as the keyboard. And as far as turning the internal sounds off...that's called "local on or local off".
