SCSI HARD DRIVE

I have a 3k and scsi zip. I see scsi hard drives on ebay. Can one be used with the 3k?

The MPC3000 works with SCSI ZIP drives.

Search this forum for more information as the topic of ZIP drives has been discussed many times already.

My Homie runs a Seagate 4GB external hard drive with his 3000. Not sure of the model number I'm afraid, perhaps the person selling this MPC2000 would be willing to give you more info:

Hers goes.

SCSI hard disk drives do work with the MPC3000.

Makes sure the drive is a "SINGLE ENDED/SCSI-2/SCSI-1/NARROW" type.

When I am not using a SCSI CF CARD READER/WRITER or a SCSI ZIP DRIVE then an external cased QUANTUM MAVERICK 540S or QUANTUM EMPIRE 1080S gets put into service. ( old but work well )

These are 540 meg and 1 gig types.

A newer SCSI HD drive can be put into service with the MPC3000 provided that it is compatible with "SINGLE ENDED/SCSI-2/SCSI-1/NARROW" modes of operation.

Be aware too that a lot of space on modern SCSI drives greater than say 1 gigabyte will be wasted due to MPC3000 file system limits.

The drive in the eBay link posted by HaterNob will probably work but a lot of its 4 gig capacity will be wasted.

I like to have all options at my disposal.

You never know when you will need one or the other.

I keep the floppy active for this reason also.

I rock a 60 with a SCSI hard drive and it's bliss. Get a hold of one cause they're cheap and very handy. Have fun!

do you find ur own sounds? do u only use vinyl? do you purchase those downloadable kits? i guess with the access to get sounds from the web(wav.) my real question is how 60/3000 owner incorporate its older technolgy? kwality im guessing you find ur own sounds b/c ur rockin a scsi hd. im asking b/c im commited to learning this dam 3k and i want the much convenient way for transfering sound dl from the web to the 3k.

All vinyl. But occasionally I'll hook up the computer and record synths and stuff. It's good, if I'm not feeling creative I'll just load up the hard drive with sounds for the next time. You wouldn't believe how much quicker everything is with a hard drive. Then once I've finished a beat I just save the sounds, program and song on a disc, label it and put it away. Easy as. I've got some spare hard discs if you wanna buy them - that way all you need is an external case from ebay.
