8 outs or EB16

I plan on getting Pro Tools for recording and some mixing. I have also been contemplating getting either the EB16 or the 8 additional outs.
If I get Pro Tools or any other software with mixing capabilities is the
EB16 or the 8 outs even necessary?

8 outs isn't necesary for multitrack recording, it just saves you a lot of time (4x or 5x faster). The only time you absolutely need it is if you want to track 8 parts out seperately on a mixer at once. The EB-16 is also very helpfull for live use to keep you effects in the box. It's also nice to quickly audition how something will sound with some basic effects like reverb. If you are going to be using pro-tools, it probably comes with MUCH better quality effects than the EB-16 will do, so you are better off recording without it and adding effects in post.

I'd get the 8 outs first, then if you can get a good deal the EB16 if you want.

if you're gonna be bouncing your stuff onto a computer, then DEFINITELY the 8 outs first. you can always **** with it there in terms of effects and what not

yep i dont use my eb16 all that much anymore

I've got 8 outs I like it alot
I don't have the EB16 and I've never needed it, if I want a weird sound I just find it on a record or **** with some synth. Adding effects is easy with a PC and I've heard bad things about the effects in the card anyway.
