hmmmm......
Well i would be curious to know as to what midi interface you are using.
I have tried syncing tools and mpc a couple of years ago.
I was tracking one track at a time over midi. When i played back i noticed the timing to be drifting after about 30, 40 seconds.
It was also proved again when i tried to cut sections of the loop and loop them.
If you could test this. By recording a 2 minute song. 1 track at a time.
Making special care to record all the percussive elements as well.
Via midi sync.
I just thought it was common knowledge.
Incidentally. I am using a G4 ibook with a 1.4 ghz processor.
I was recording some virtual instruments in pro tools. Then bouncing them all at once by setting up the bus etc.
The loops were at 107bpm. and were 2 bar loops. I was pushing the processor a bit.
I then tried to load these in to my mpc with the same tempo. They were totally out of time!
Ok so maybe if i had less running then maybe it would be in closer time.
But to be honest. Someone said to me a while ago that computers played back in perfect time.
I knew this not to be true at all. But i wonder where this misinformation gets its legs from.
The computers and software i have used have never been tight. Midi is an absolute joke.
But also even virtual instruments are not that tight either, which is something i find rather odd.
