Alright, this might piss some of ya'll off, but when I got my MPC2000xl, I had that shit mastered in one day, flat. I dont understand why some people make it out to be so complicated. Theres just not that much to it... Im not sayin i'm some genius or anything: far from it. Its just that the MPC is a sampling Drum Machine, period. Its not that complicated.
Maybe its because I started small and worked my way up? I've owned just about every budget sampler you can think of (akai s20, boss sp-202, sp-505, zoom st-224), while some people jump right in with the MPC being their first piece of equipment(not that there's anything wrong with that
). Before I bought one I was imagining this complicated machine that has tons of secrets and would take months to master, but I actually find the MPC on its own to be somewhat limited. I couldn't imagine using it without the aid of sample-editing software like Cool Edit or SoundForge. Well actually I could, but I dont think I'd like it.
Like I said before, i'm not sayin its cause im so smart or anything, hell, I've had my JV-2080 for 2 months now and I still don't know how to program it. Im just usin presets. But that is a complicated piece of gear. The MPC is not. Im not complaining, though. Thats part of what I like about it; its simplicity.
Before any of ya'll flip on me, let me say that I absolutely love my MPC, and It is the foundation of my whole studio. I love it to death, but the fact remains: its just not as complicated as some people think it is...
