Reformat:ed my card from FAT32 to FAT. All of a sudden, I have still not been able to corrupt files by overwriting (replacing) them. I could do that in like 5 saves with fat32. Perhaps a bit early to say, but it seems more stable...

What file system are you running on the CF card? Fat16 or Fat32?

I think my cards are a mix. I'll check them and see but the card I use most is FAT 32.

just got this problem a few minutes ago,
same problem here,
my card is a fat32 emtec 2G.
but when it was freezing i wait because i didn't want to loose my things..
i finally removed the card, then the mpc got life again !
i just save on the 128meg akai card, creating a new folder and worked !

maybe 2g card is too much.. maybe my emtec is a bad one.. i don't know

seems to be many bugs on this toy..

However, if it times out and returns to a working state if you pull the CF card when it hangs, that's great news in itself! Means you can probably save your work. In fact, woudln't surprise me if it would have worked to save the next try, even if you just inserted the same CF card again.

I use a Kingston 1GB card, and have had freeze issues. Also, I have had both freeze issues and file corruption issues with the original Akai card as well, so I'm not convinced that it's a card issue...
