My Custom MPC 1000

Customizing my MPC 1000k.

Im making it look like the classic color and scheme.

I got the painting going on.

I sanded down the faceplate.

But the letters im thinking about screen printing them.

Any other ideas for priting the letters and numbers on the mpc?

I`ll post pictures tomarrow.

cut vinyl stencil remove the positive and paint...

or you could use letraset and a thin layer of some kind of sealant...

been thinkin about doin this too - my bro's a carpenter so i was thinkin
of getting some wooden side panels made too.

just leave those letters off, man
you don't need em if you know your mpc.
leaving them off makes you faster in the long run.

thats a cop out.

Even though you have letters on your keyboard, would you take them off so you can be better at typing?...i didnt think so..

I am doing a professional job here so i want it to look on point.

I took everything off. So it should look like this.


Heres what I am using.

1. A USA MADE phillips screw driver. The only one thats compatible.

2. 400 grit sand paper. For polish and better paint adhesion.

3. 3 Cans of paint. Rusto Matte Crystal Clear coat, Grey Rusto Primer. And A fossil color Plastic spray paint (texured) its the same color of the classic MPC's.





Now I took the Screen completly off, because imma change it from blue to the fossil color.

Here i have primer on the MPC cover. I sanded away the letters and silk screen on the mpc so they wont bleed through. This right now has 2 coats of primer. I am going to put 3 total before i add the final color.


Here are all the buttons. I didnt use primer i just scrubbed off all the grim from the buttons with a wire brush. Then i just painted them the color right away. Its because the paint if for plastics. For the side panels i am going to put 3 coats. After each coat i wait 24 hours and lightly sand away the texture and paint it again.

You see the metal piece for the front of the MPC? I primered that 1 time and coated it with paint. Because its not going to be touched alot.

Thats all i have for now, its been 4 or five days, because i been buffing the texture off and painting.

what did you figure out doing for the text/labels?

your paint will start wearing off the buttons and the side panels if you carry it around a lot. definitely the buttons though if you use it for a while. however, it looks really good. nice work.

I'm making a template on the computer then imma tranfer them to a screen or 2 and screen print them on with a special ink that dries with time and not a flash press.

I havnt painted a lot in my time and the paint on any part of the machine won't come off. its going to be practicly water proof.

there is more to painting than just spraying a can of paint.

true, but don't be surprised if/when it happens - your fingers go on this machine a LOT. i sanded my buttons down for a rougher surface area for the paint to grab onto, primed it, sprayed it, and clearcoated it - and after a year.5 the edges are wearing down. granted, i am joined at the hip with my 1000 and use it daily but you see where i'm going. luckily for me it complements my design - worn corners, sanded metal, crazy scratches

i rarely use my 1000, only for long trips. even then i use my 500.

alot of people got only one MPC.

i got 13 mpc's. 5 of which i use the most. So the wear on them is not great.

Its going to complement my classic theme with the rest of my mpc's.

Plus i got a black MPC 1000.
