looping

I'm trying to loop a sample-I was told to go to trim go to the end and change the numbers to make it longer. when i do this and press enter the number goes back to the original. how can i loop and make it longer when this happens?

you cannot make a sample longer than it is....ie:if it's from 0 to 100000 you cannot go from 0 to 150000,ok?

i dont think so, if you are using a sound on you mpc say a gutar riff or somthing you loaded from a cd,try sampeling into you mpc just leave some time after you don recording,cause when you do that it pre records and you can stop whenever you want, providing you got the ram to max it out at like two minutes or somthing, then edit loop and wala

i asked before but didnt really get a clear answer. I have played various melodies on my keyboard and recorded them like I would record any other track. but how can I record a melody and save it like I would save a sample so I can trim/chop and loop it then save it to pads. i know how to save all other sounds I load onto the mpc, but not what I actually play with my keyboard.

aight. MIDI isnt audio data. You need to really record from a different source. I would get a multitrack http://www.zzounds.com/cat--Multitrack-Recorders--2869 and record just the keys outs to it then sample from the multitrack. Thats I play my bass, scratch, and do guitars, vocals, or anything that I need to use the MPC playing while Im recording. You might want to get a rackmount sampler like a s950. You can sample and sequence(record at the same time then). The cassete multis are hella cheap though.

yea i use a tascam 488 for recording. but thats a good idea. thanks.

oh word? Yeah then just sample the keys. You can just mute all the tracks cept the midi one and record that on the tascam. Just when you record the seq, make sure you record a little more than what you want. ex. I want a key line that goes for 2 bars (8 beats). I would sample 2 + 1/2 bars (10 beats) and then when I sample it back into the mpc, go into trim and you should get a percise loop. If you just sample for two bars your gonna have problems editing to get it to sound like it is sequenced from the MPC. always record a little before and a little after the sample so editing is a breeze

yea and i love the joint too! its a tight piece. bet man thanks for the tips. i was always wondering how I would do that. and it turned out to be easier then I thought...aight good lookin
