yeah it really just depends on your sample ... the low pass feature isnt bad at all either. Gets the job done.

most the time your sample wont just come out loud bangin and clean (depends on pre adjustments really)off the mpc 1000. put some grime into it. run your mp through a preamp and just freakin mess with effects ect it until it hits hard.

I sample a live bass into it - although I don't know ish abou playing bass 
I just sample the notes i need and filter them until only the low frequencies are audible. But since an MPC 3k or 4k got the better AD /DA changers I guess it might sounds better there... but hey, let's face the facts. we all know how much the 1k costs and hom much the other machines. But I know one thing: there's definately bass in my tracks
