number buttons on my 2000xl problem

what up yall?been a while since we last chopped it up,but i ran into a slight problem on my mp that's drastically slowing down my workflow and i thought who else but yall would know whats wrong................tghe problem is your hold certain number(blue) buttons in strange positions to get them to respond
(mainly the shift button more than others) and i wanted to know how to fix this..........are the sensors underneath just dirty or worn out?if worn out how do i fix it?

your tact switches need to be replaced.
you can order them through VST, but you're gonna pay more than you should.
if you can find the exact size switches you need, you'll find them alot cheaper on ebay.

by replacing the tact switches do you mean replace the buttons?because i just went through the whole vst website and didnt see tact switches anywhere

the buttons simply make constact to the tact switches underneath.
they're not listed on VST's site, but they are available if you call and speak to Nick.

Tact switches come in all different sizes, measured in millimeters.
I'm not sure what size you would need for the 2kxl.
Every MPC has a number of different size switches on each unit.
So you need to atleast call Nick to find out which size is needed for the specific buttons. You would also need to know which type are needed as well as the size.
Lastly, you would need to de-solder the old switches, which is easy if you have soldering skills.

Definitely call nick at VST on Monday.
Considering this is all new to you, it may be eaiser to just order them from Nick, as opposed to trying to save money from buying in bulk and doing alot of legwork aside from that.

If the plastic buttons themselves were broken, you would know because they would be caved in and dangling around.
