uh oh! Huge bug in the 4.67 os that really really sucks!

1.Power the unit on
2.Completely fill up the internal ram by loading up programs and sequences from the memory card until it reads insufficient memory/System error.
3.Attempt to load up another sequence from the memory card and it will trigger a system error.
4.Tsig becomes corrupted, Bar counter in the top hand left corner may read (1.??.00), the loop display will read 1 bar and when you try to change any of the parameters or load anything up it will read system error.

5. IF YOU POWER OFF THE UNIT AND POWER IT BACK UP IT WILL CONTINUE TO READ SYSTEM AND HAVE THE SAME MALFUNCTIONS.

I also held the erase button to do a reset. I went to load things up and System error! Help JJ Help!

So you loaded up stuff until it said the memory was maxed and then tried to load more after that??????

do you mean you cannot load anything at all in your mpc anymore?
or is it that your autoload is so big that it fills the mpc when you start and then you cannot do anything?

it almost sounds like autoload is turned on.

When I power on my mpc it loads up all of my drum kits only. I have everything organized in folders in my memory cards.
Example:

Projects-Song1-Sequence1,Sequence2,Sequence3
Samples-SMP Program 1, SMP Program 2,

Anyway I was just loading up stuff to listen to my various projects until I had used up the internal memory. When I had done so I got the insufficient memory message as well as the system error message. Thats when all of the maddness had occurred. I then turned off my MPC and powered it back up and it still was bugging out. I used the system reset and it still was bugging out. I noticed that the last sequence that was loaded was a song that I was having weird things happen to before I switched to JJ. The sequence was making my tsig jump to different number while playing. Anyway it could be that the sequence is corrupted but that doesnt explain why it still was occuring once I powered down and back up again!

I'd try and load up an older os.

I can't lie.. doesn't really sound like a huge bug as much as it sounds like u **** it up tryna load extra shit even tho the memory was full... try installing a diff OS and re installing

The first thing I would do is turn off that autoload and see if that cures it.

If you really can't get the machine back to normal by holding the erase button while powering the unit on (that is how you are doing it right?) then the only thing I can think of that might have happened is that you pushed the OS to the point of a memory management error. The MPC ran out of space for user data and the overflow may have overwrote and corrupted the system routines.

The badly botched and never officially released Alesis NanoTracker midi sequencer had a really serious problem like that. If you sent the thing more midi than it's clueless 3rd party coders designed it to store, it would keep recording the midi outside it's buffer until it overwrote all the system routines and stopped it from ever recording anything again -- unless you could find somebody with the equipment and know how to reprogram the thing's microcontroller from scratch (I've heard such a person existed -- but they sure aren't easy to find!)

Anyway, you shouldn't worry -- it's alot easier to recode the MPC than the NanoTracker. Just reload the OS and reset again.

And maybe try not to push the memory limitations quite so much next time...

I can load up things since I have used the reset around the 3rd time. My autoload function is on but it only loads up my drumkits which leaves plenty of space. It only happens when my internal memory gets maxxed out after loading up other things like sequences and samples. Im going to try the 4.68 and see whats poppin with that.

ok thx. thats not so bad (at least it did did not brick your mpc).

did you send it to JJ? try to make a concise report.
a bit like

start mpc
load samples until memory full ([enter amount of memory here])
load ...
error [error name]
etc...
