Ok so the topic has came up numerous times and a few people have made mentions of knowing of books but couldnt remember the names etc.

I'm hoping some one can reach out with some names or websites or anything that may be able to give good and updated values of records...

at this point I use ebay for ruff reference, but from what I gather thats not the best place to get a good idea...

so PLEASE im beggin yall for any info or input you may have please share...or any technics, tips or tricks...my sell stack continues to grow by the day and I don't want to be overwhelmed by the time I actually find a good resource so the sooner the better....

well, I hate to break this to you...but: they're usually worth way more to you than they are to anyone else...

why would you hate to break that to me? just curious...??

they are worthless to me....the value to me isnt what they are, but more so whats on them....

I don't really collect records, I collect samples....the reason for the thread is so that I have an estimated value for the person that DOES collect records.... no one can tell me there isnt a market for records...thats just obsurd...

now I'm not lookin for a hard time just a little help...you mean to tell me all you guys do is buy, buy, buy? You dont at some point top out and decide to sell some???

selling records always breaks my heart... The least painful way, i've found, is to go in person to a store and go for credit... at least that way, i'm getting records

eBay is rough, unless you're going to put thirty up at once, or sell as a lot or something... by the time you've waited for the transaction to get done, packaged the stuff, actually physically walked into the post office and mailed it or whatever, it's not worth your time... Unless you're selling records that are going to fetch 20 bucks a pop, onesie-twosie stuff is a waste of time...

as for a crate here or there of stuff i'll never listen to again--i'll see if anyone I know wants the stuff, and if not, I'll seriously put it on the corner. like 25 cent junk records, is that what you're talking? I make sure not to buy them things ever... those are like magnets, the pure junk records...big heavy magnets that only serve to attract more junk... cosign on some kid's lemonade stand or something, put "5 bucks" on the whole crate, hope for a college kid or "my first dj" to walk by...

otherwise, it's frisbee time lol

dawg lol...cmon man 1 - 2 dollar records?? mwhahaha

fawk all that...I can't even see why some one would waste their time with that....after ebay/paypal fee's you'd prolly lose money lol...

I'm talking about records that would bring in no less then 10-20+ bucks..and list maybe 20-30 records at a time...

I have loads of records that I see selling/sold on ebay for 20,30,50 some higher and thats just the few I have already sifted...and sure some are only a buck or 2 but sh!t after I listen to the record front to back and if nothing catchs my ear and the things only worth a buck or 2 I'll let my pit use it as a chew toy...

my problem lies in finding a reliable pricing source to sperate the real from the fake so to speak....

and here we are lol...

P.S. I wish I had a place like yaself where I could just "get credits" my main reason for wanting to sell my records in the first place is because I want to have money to buy more and keep that in rotation...let my habbit pay for itself...smell me?

Simple rule of thumb... if ya gonna sell on ebay then get current valuations from whats on ebay at the moment, going by books for prices aint gonna work unless you have mint stuff and more importantly have the right buyer (a real record collector)

if you put a record on ebay for the expected specialist price then the breaks cats aint gonna touch ya, you can only price a break by the current diggers market.. the trick is in the advertising, you wanna catch the new guys for a better chance of the good cash as they know no difference but are desperate for the beats they've heard about

search a couple of beat stores (google) and look at their prices, they are probably a bit higher but they have the rep to go with it, you know what ya gettin from these guys.

its a tuff call valueing breaks as they are only worth as much as what the digger wants to pay... you want it bad you pay high.... but if you know your stuff then you know that it'll turn up somewhere for a dollar/pound

dacrates good look man thats what I usually do is scope around and get an idea of what everyone is selling them for...

but like beeetjunkeee just mentioned "beckett" I was hoping to find something of the sorts just for records obviously....not only for selling, but buying 2...

If Im digging around it would be nice to know of a buntch of records that may look worthless, but could really be valuable...maybe not for samplin but for a collector...

thanks for the input...even though i STILL wish I had a direct source to just go to everytime and get updated values...but maybe I am just hoping/looking for something that just does not exist....

the journey never ends, but I guess thats why I love this ish....

EEEEEHH!! you aint goin to get what you paid for them most times.
you have to have rare mint condition records to get top dollars.
more then half collectors are picky about the conditions. i see it all the time.

but check out my group VinylRecordAddict links page http://groups.yahoo.com/group/VinylRecordAddicts/links

beware some those guys on some them forums are ruff on new B's so take this as a warning.

I dont get why people always say that I honestly don't see how it's possible....How can I lose...

I have a buntch of records most in great condition...and my average is most likely .50 - 1.00 a record...thats just approx based on all the collections I have purchased or was given over the years...

yet I see some that I have are selling or sold on ebay for 50, 100+ I and 10-20 dollar records for days...that means if I sell it for 2 bucks I made money.....not much, but still...I don't see how it's difficult to make money or atleast break even...

I have no over head most were cheap or given to me, yet I know theres mad valuable records in my collect...I really cant see how I can lose....

I guess i'll have to see I'm goona prepare 20-30 records and throw em on ebay and see what happens...sometimes you just gotta see things for ya self lol...

yeah pretty much it's a game of wait and see, i have been running my store for a yr now and it's not easy ,you have to understand that theres almost NO one buying records any more, it's a hard thing to sell when theres no demand for it,
sure you will make some money from s ome records but i wouldnt plan on maken millions . as long as you get what paid or if you make some kind of money from some records thats all good .

i do this for the LOVE not to become rich from it, dont get me wrong i digg for that million dollar record too. but till then i go of what i have see while doin the foot work and research. it keeps money in the pocket for my ADDICTION

^^^ yea familia we talked before pimp u kno where I stand....I fell off the same boat as u, I'm most def not trying to get rich by any means...far from my purpose of askin all this etc.

*crowd cheers on Harry as he attempts to admit he has a problem*

"Hello, My name is HARRY HUSTLE and I to have an ADDICTION"

*whole crowd stands up and golf claps in unisen*

lol..same boat man I have that addiction 2 so If I can break bread even or make a few bucks im all for it...at the same time I keep myself supplied with plenty sampling ammo and I can slim down my personal collection and in time have nothing but illness, instead of illness scattered through out a whole lot of doo doo...smell me??

I kno the market for it aint easy, but it cant hurt to test the waters and see what comes of it, never know I myte just have some ish that is a collectors dream, but I didnt find any samples on it so to me that record is worthless and goes in the SELL/TRADE pile...

not to say I myte not have mad ish that another producer would love to sample, but I have a certain sound Im normally lookin for and i'm pretty picky and wont waste time with it unless I think I can really make a heater.....egggh it's mad time consuming but one these days Ima take a sh!t load of pics and see whats good....

how you been doin wit sales man? got any tips to attract buyers or any that good stuff??
