Why? Problem with Analog In's

can any1 tell me why when i open the Sample/Record window on my MPC, and I adjust the Rec Gain and my DJ Mixers master i get a signal showing on my MPC screen, even when no signal is coming thru? I Didnt have this problem with my last DJ mixer, but it had 2 outputs- 1 labelled REC and the other AMP--the one labeled AMp was the set of outs effected by the Master Gain....I was using the REC outs... Now with this new mixer it only has 1 pair of outs. Im using good cables, my wires arent a rats nest. i HAVE TO NORMALIZE DAMN NEAR EVERYTHING!! I read in the Manual that the MPC's REC Ins are Balanced...But most DJ Mixers are RCA outs...so why would they make them balanced??> also i went and bought new RCA to RCA cables(Hosa's-6 ft.) and a Pair of RCA to 1/4'Bal. adapters..I hooked em up and didnt get any signal at all in my MPC, so i went back to the RCA to 1/4" unbal's that i bought when i picked up my MPC. Sorry for posting this up again, but i cant get no answers and havent been able to figure out anything.. I tried plugging the DJ mixers power supply in another outlet, i tried everything... Please Help...Thanx in advance

Perhaps because the universe does not revolve around DJs? (and thankfully too, imagine the smell! )

Also, some people know that at least 97% of all "DJ" marketed gear -- especially the lower-end unbalanced stuff -- is cheap junk that tends to create more noise and crosstalk problems then the lower price is worth. So if they're serious the accept the inevitable and invest in professional balanced equipment.

The MPC rec inputs are designed to accept either balanced or unbalanced without any special adapter as long as the plug is 1/4". That aside, I don't really understand what your problem is. Are you getting noise? Or are you just worried that you're seeing movement on the rec input meter when you don't hear anything?

Im not getting any hum as long as I dont turn the MPC's master vol all the way up..Im just worried about the fact that it shows a signal, when im not playing anything, but if i turn the REC Lvl(mpc) and the Master(dj mixer) up a little bit higher than it is when it shows a signal, i'll sample something and i notice a slight hum in the background.I had an 11 year old Numark mixer, that was beat to death(it was a free joint that came with my turntables) so it wasnt good quality mixer, and it didnt give me this problem. Do any of u guys get this happeneing to u? If so whats the solution? I rewired the Turntable,rewired the DJ Mixer, checked the grounds,Plugged the power supply in a different outlet,Rewired the Cartridge, tried another cartridge, tried cheap RCA's, and another pair of the exact same cables im using already, and to no avail its still the same... Should this worry me, or should i not worry at all?
