The thing is numark was hoping to move more units and reach a broader base by making the units smaller and cheaper....in hopes that they would sell mainly just based off the name not necessarily by the quality of product they put out....and with the MPC following shouldnt have been a problem, but as most have stated with the products lately, buggy OS's etc they are LOSING that following...you don't think if we can see all the people jumping over to the MV that a huge company such as akai/numark or who ever else for that matter wouldnt see the proven numbers?? trust me they know whats going on and just like roland did by trying to take an already great unit and make it better...Do you not think numark will attempt the same?? All these companies want to be the leader they all want to be the one with the biggest balls....trust me...the next MPC WILL BE A BEAST!!! There no question about it, BUT will they back up the beast with a stable OS and try to start catering to the ALREADY customers V.S. being so concerned with adding NEW customers.....

If they are smart they will work day and night to make sure the next MPC they put out will be the MPC of ALL MPC's because as much as I hate to say it if they don't and the new MPC ends up a failure then I think the MPC legacy will be doomed from that point on.....

And yes the 4000 was very expensive and they didnt move alot of units but mainly because alot of people would out weigh the 4000 with the MV and I think based on cost and features the MV had a huge edge...

but trust me when I say that regardless of what numark puts out, they WILL make sure the price is fairly close to what the MV's retail ticket is...

only time will tell...All I can say is to all loyal MPC heads...sometimes you gotta walk through the dark until the sun shines....don't go to sleep just yet...THE SUN'S COMING!!!

but its still numark vs.roland. Why would numark release 3 poor products
to lose their fan base and then try to get them back? The trick is to stay on top,Numark has entry level quility and I believe it will stay that way. Why reach a broader audience with poor product?

Bottom line you can't polish a terd!
Not saying that about Akai, its about Numark.

Right now they are 0 for 3 and I don't think they are even capable of making a superior product.
If Akai makes a MV comperable product I would definatly check it out.

Personally I am in a situation where I need some change and I consider the MV. Now I own a MP2k, a soundmodule and rec all that on my hardware recorder (DPS16). I was think of selling the DPS and getting a soundcard (saffire) and rec to my laptop computer. I am doing the comparaison between this option and the MV option. I mainly do sample based beats with added sound from my keyboard like bass or perc. And I am afraid that the MV will break my workflow a the sampling point. I mean like the hit sample button...hit stop...hit pad...chop it, had filters and there it is ! I just watch the video on the roland website and the guy told that you have to load a patch, bla bla bla, awwwwww. Too long ! Somebody feels me ? Correct me if I am wrong 'cause like I said I don't own a MV, I just made some research and watch videos..

The thing about the MV is that its seems to not really be THE all in one machine. I mean, it seems like it miss some things more that made it the all in one machine. For exemple, if you have external sound modules you can't really mix everything up and end up with a CD. You need another machine or a interface with a computer to do the final mix thing.

well we can all agree that akai needs to step their game up quite a bit and get serious with their machines.

and the OS department.

the OS is what kept me away from a 4k. I just couldnt talk myself into spending 3g's for something that doesnt work, fully atleast.

keep the dps16 setup if that is working for you. at least that is what i would do...software is nice but if what you have is working for you, changing will slow you down. mpc+module+dps is a good flowing combo, better than mv+pc in terms of the chi flow i would think.

yeah man, changing setups is not good. I haven been doing that for the last 2 years and it has not made things any easier. The setup I have now will be my setup for atleast the next 2 years maybe adding a alpha track or remote zero.
I used to know my mpc1k setup and it was a breeze to make a beat and have fun while doing it. With my setup now, I find myself losing track of the beat and the direction I want to take it in because I spend so much time looking through samples and sounds. Good luck with the MV

Rolad vs. Numark arguments aside. When it comes down to it the MV just seems like the better product.

But I do agree if you have mastered one way of doing things whether it be working with just one machine, working with just an MV, working with an MPC and a computer etc. etc. then it makes sense to not change anything and keep doing what you're doing and not changing the formula.

I see things differently in my case, I just started making beats just a little over a year ago. I was only using the MPC for roughly less than 8months. I'm still finding my way around working with the MPC and working it with DAW software. Being that I am still at the beginner stage, I see no problem in changing things up to find the better updated and compact fit like the MV and just sticking to that. A bug-less OS alone will make the learning process alot easier let alone only having to concentrate on mastering one box.

When I first started on the mv the learning curb was there but if you have used an mpc it is like you have a head start. If you are looking for just one reason to make up your mind consider this, you make sample based beats right? What is the best way to chop samples MV or MPC? MV, you can chop in color. It makes it easier to see the waveforms on the monitor. There is 3 ways to chop. If you use recycle it can do that. If you want to chop onto the 16 pads(64 if you like). No hate towards the MPC. The MV took the strong points and expanded that shit 1000%. And I was a diehard MPC head. All I need them to do is drop a workstation. I would buy that shit quick. But hands down if you look at Roland's approach to making equipment, currently they are ahead of Akai. Akai needs a strong comeback. It probably will in the future, but I can't imagine something stronger than the MV unless it improves on the "look" of the sequencer

I don't know why, but that shyt right there is funny as hell to me! Kind of reminds me of a cross between Chris Rock's Tony Armstrong(?) 3rd party speaking sketch and Dave Chapelle doing Prince.
