Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I have never owned an MPC before but am leaning towards purchasing an MPC1000 soon. I have a PC to work in conjunction with the MPC. What exactly does the "timestretch" feature do and if I have a PC to work with as well, will not having the feature affect me?

It streches time. Say you have 5 minutes to finish a beat before your dinner gets cold, with timestrech you can strech that to 10 or even 15 minutes.
Also it streches the length of a sample to fit your songs tempo. You can do this on a pc too. In fact it's much faster on a pc. But you'll need some way getting the sample to the pc and back of course(not a problem on the mpc1000 i should think).

If you opt for a 1000 you will need to do it anyway on a pc since the 1000 has no timestretch function.
