What up. I tried looking in the manuals but I cannot get a signal going into the mpc? I checked my cables and I'm coming from the turntable going directly into the MPC2000. Also what would be the best way to get main outputs coming out of the 2k? Should I connect directly to monitors or to audio interface? I tried both and got no signal. Any help appreciated. Just got the 2k in and fiendin like hell to get it cracking. Thanks in advance

Line level signals go into the LINE IN on mpc.

Does your turntable have LINE LEVEL output? CHeck on it.

Have you checked out the diagram of the basic mpc setup in the manual?

Yeah I did that. Do you think it's something wrong with the hardware itself? I don't have a line level output for my turntable, but when I connect it to my audio interface all I have to do is set an input an go straight into the computer. I don't know I'm lost in the game one. At least what can you tell me about the main outs not putting out a signal? Peace

What kind of turntable are you using that is allowing you to go DIRECTLY into your 2K from your TT? Most TT's have RCA outputs, and the 2K has 1/4" sampling inputs. I can't even see how you are/were going directly into your computer's soundcard with the TT, same issue.

If your TT does not have line level outputs, you need to connect your TT to a mixer and then connect the mixer output to the input of your MPC. Typically TT RCA outputs are not amplified enough to get a decent signal to any other equipment without some sort of amplification.

KM you are so right my dude. I found this out and went and copped a mixer to amp up the signal. However doing this I still get a very weak signal even if I jack the record gain all the way up on the MP. I just chalked it up as the record inputs are malfunctioning. Because I can see the meters on the mixer blaring so the signal has got to be coming out with no problem. Have anybody ever heard of the rec ins being broke? The stereo outs work perfect though. If anybody know any futher advice let me know. If not I guess I just got to take that L. Oh btw I even tried to connect the llne out on my audio interface into the MP so I can come directly out of the pc into the rec in still weak signals. But anyway thanks alot and if anyone know something post and let me know. peace

Have you ever been able to successfully sample from your 2K's sampling inputs, and if so, have you tried to sample from that same input? If you have never been able to successfully sample or get anything out of the 2K, you might want to take it back to wherever you got it from.

Nah I haven't been able to sample anything I just got the joint on Monday so I been working on it since then trying to square everything on it. I can't take it back because I bought it off ebay trying to save dough. Everything else works perfect so I guess I will do all my editing in the computer and load up in the mp and get right. It will be tedious but it could be worse. So I'm just cool that I finally got an MP. Hopefully it will last until I scape together bread for a brand new joint with MCD. Peace and thanks alot ya'll.

If you picked up that joint off of eBay, you can report the joint as defective if it won't sample or play any output, especially if you paid with PayPal, ESPECIALLY if the seller didn't say the unit was defective or if they didn't sell it AS IS. Get what you paid for B!

Have you tried turning up the output on the mixer? Depending on the mixer make sure you turn up the right output. My mixer has 2 or 3 different outputs, and the level for each is controlled independently by a different knob. You shouldn't have to turn the record gain that high on the MPC. I try to keep mine about half way up. I never like turning the record gain up to full blast on any equipment.

Try a different sample source also if you can, something with a native line level output. And always check the manual. There could be some real simple thing you are missing. I had that happen the other day with the playback level of 2 samples I was working with. Turns out that the output level in the mixer screen was way low for the 2 pads. I've only been working with an MPC for less than a year. I didn't know that was even possible.

As far as scraping doe together for an MCD joint, you can get an external MCD for your 2K (after you get everything else working right of course). I just picked one up last week. I'm still evaluating how well it works but so far I'm pleased. Threw an internal card reader in my studio PC and transferring samples between PC<-->MPC is a breeze, though it wasn't all that difficult with my Jaz drives. The Jaz drives just took up more space and made more noise.

How does a MCD reader hook up externally to the 2k? And what the price is like if you don't mind? And where did you cop again if you don't mind? Also I bought the joint from a music store and they did say AS IS! But they had a number and I called and spoke to someone about it and the dude was like they said as is, but since had someone come in and test it and quoted if anyone is interested tell them it works perfect and is a great deal. My own fault thought I should of just tried to scrape together the funds for a brand new joint. It was my first time buying off ebay and I never trusted that ish anyway ( guess I shoulda listened to the old gut LOL)
Plus I been digging in the manual crazy. I don't know though.......

Hooks up through SCSI. That's the only way to hook up external storage. Check it out in the manual. The bare drive is $125, and its $150 installed in an external SCSI enclosure, from scsi for samplers dot com, plus shipping. If they said AS IS your pretty much screwed. I bought my 2k off of eBay, and after some issues it worked out. If you can't get it to work, you might want to send it to VST or Forat to see what they will charge you to fix it.
