tons of vinyl is in the studio is usually a sign of a producer who's been in the game for awhile and who understands the significance of records in regards to making rap music.

YEAH I HAVE TO COSIGN TO A CERTAIN POINT CAUSE I HAVE ONLY BEEN MAKEN BEATS FOR 7 yrs now but i have been djing for 28-29 yrs and i still play vinyl i know i will get heat for this and prolly lose respect from some but FUC digital it's the lazy and fast and easy way, i love to work for my sounds and if that means listen for long periods of time at least i can kick back and look at the cover theres to much artistry involved in the art form of record pressing and maken covers and just to be pressed to vinyl

ALL I GOT TO SAY IS DONT KNOCK THE TAPE TILL YOU TRIED IT IT SOUNDS LIKE VINYL TOO,WARM AND FUZZY.....OH AND I USE MD'S TOO. IT'S OK BUT IT AINT VINYL GREAT FOR RECORDING SETTS THOUGH.

Yep... alot more on vinyl.... because those mp3's people stumble across are only recorded from vinyl.. so ur getting what some one else has taken the time to dig and record to mp3.

yea, even just sampling that one piece of vinyl which doesn't exist in any other medium can make the difference in being noticed as a great producer or just being tossed in with all the rest.

Question was kinda idiotic if you ask me but i aint talkin shit about the original poster. I like to grab samples off vinyl more than a cd or mp3 anyday. The thing is i got all kinds of bills and financial obligations right now so my money has been tight when it comes to vinyl so ive have been using that all the breaks cd for some drums. I mean i have fun chopping these drums and its all good practice and all, but man i find it so much more satisfying and rewarding to find that ill gem in the crate and grab a sample off that. Sampling off vinyl is much more fulfilling to me. Its like the journey to find the record for the sounds to put into my 60II is half the fun.

Can you dig it?

if i were to visit someones "hiphop" studio, id have a bit more confidence that i was gonna hear some heat if i saw mad crates of wax, than if i just saw a bunch of "sample cds" laying around... not that using vinyl instead of cds automatically makes someones musical creations "better", but thats just the way i would assume things... not to imply that my assumptions are correct, because when it comes to art, there really isnt a right and a wrong, its all subjective... but after being a hiphop fan for so long, i tend to have faith in my instincts :wink:


just my opinion on the matter...
