Mangled Beats!!

Hello, Amusic93 here. I am having difficulty in figuring out my problem. When I save a beat to zip (internal 100 mb) I save as an indivisual seq. first, then save as APS with sounds. This usually works fine, however problem is that when I load certain beats they come out sounding all mangled...sounds are all out of place...some sounds are even loading with beats that I never even programed them to. As I create more sessions, this seems to be happening more frequently...Whats going on? (For what its worth I did try to run a search for other threads w/the same problem but got lost and side tracked with other intresting topics). Please help me!

you may have loaded the wrong program to work with the sequence.

Yeah but when I save A program and sequence I title them both so when I load them I just load the seq. and aps file with the same name...so theres something else thats wrong. just dont know what. It doesnt happen to every program I save, but now its starting to happen alot more.

Sounds like a corrupted zip disk/data. This happened to me when I stored a zip disk near a speaker (i.e. large magnet). Make sure your zips are nowhere near any magnetic source like monitors and speakers etc.

I dont think it is a corrupted zip disk because the sounds are still there they just dont load up the same way I saved them, besides I'm pretty mindful of keeping my disk away from magnetic fields, I once destroyed my friends start up disk for the mpc2k . Does it matter that I save all my sequences and programs to the same folder? I have like 7 beats all in the "root" folder. And the fact that I dont label my sounds (just pgms and seq's), maybe the mpc is getting confused with everything being in one folder? I dont know.

lload sounds from a different disk, do they sound mangled also? If not the disk is bad.

This much I figured out, the sounds themselves are fine, but when they load into the wrong assigned drum pad is when they sound mangled, or out of tempo might be a better word. you feel me? Its like the sounds are all out of order...I'm wondering if its because I dont name my sound files....maybe the mpc is misinterpreting the sound file's. All my sounds register as "sound05, sound06 etc. Well what ever it is I'm trying figure it out...I'm naming all my sounds right now hoping that will make it easier for the mpc to read which "snd file" belongs with which "program". I hope this works!

When I first started using my Zip I was using alot of different drum programs and I would save them then when I loaded them up my stuff would sound mangled.

One day I realized that alot of the programs I was using the sounds had the same name as other sounds that I was using for different beats. So when I would save it would actually replace the old sound with the new one. Check out your programs and see if you have a few sounds that have the same names as others. Also I had this problem when I would use the note variation slider to changed the pitch of samples.

maybe this is the problem..........
say track 1 is drums and track 2 is bass
you have a sequence consting of both
when you save the seq, and and your mpc is set to teack 1 drums, and 2 bass ,you must load the sounds the same way....
so when you load it load the drums on track 1 and s:drum 1, then go the the main menue switch the track to 2 and below move the s:drum to 2 load the sounds ADD them to the other sounds dont replace them..
you might be getting the tracks mixed up

and also if your tempo is at 180 when you save you gotta put that shit back,
i hope you not forgeting to set the tempo,that woudl make me feel like a jack ass

You know what? I think hoodlord hit it right on the nose...I realized the songs that seem to be affected were the ones that I used the note variation slider...that plus I do believe I have snd files with the same name, so this is whats confusing the MPC. Im naming all my snd files to ensure I dont have snds with the same name's...ya dig? (I'm sure this will solve the problem). And as far as setting the tempo, I save a SEQ and APS file, So when I load, everthing automaticaly loads in the right sequence (at least most of the time). I think We solved the problem here folks. To the new cats NAME YOUR SOUNDS otherwise the mpc does it for you (sound20, sound26 etc...) and it might duplicate sound names and screw your issh up .
