Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hello Everyone,

I may be a fool, but do you guys know what kind of cable (name) I need to connect a SCSI cable to my MPC? I got a iomega Zip Drive off of ebay with a cable that fits into the SCSI output on the zip but is too big for the SCSI port on my MPC.
What the deal???
Thanks!

you need a 25pin -> 50pin scsi converter cable. ive ordered one off ebay for like $8.

just search for summin like "scsi cable 25 50" it did the trick for me!

Shame that they sold you the drive without the right cable. Anyway, you need a 25 pin to 25 pin SCSI cable. You probably have a 50 to 50 or 25 to 50 cable. That's it. After that you are on your way.

Good luck.

they probably thought he was using the drive for an old computer

actaully i just remembered it depends on whether you have a 2000 or 2000xl

2000 requires a 25 - 25 cable
2000xl requires 25 - 50 cable

Thanks everyone...

I have an MPC2000XL. I think what I have now is a 25 - 25. I'm looking at pictures of these cables online now and it looks like the 50 pin side is even wider than the 25 pin side. Are you guys sure it's not the 25 - SCSI2 cable that I need. That one looks right on the pictures, but I really don't know.
Thanks again.

If a SCSI 25 pin cable doesn't fit into a Zip drive, then you may not actually have a SCSI Zip drive. You may have a Parallel Zip drive. That will not work on an MPC. This has happened to a lot of folks. I'm not a PC person, so I can't tell you the details, but that sounds like the problem. Send it back and exchange it if you can.

Peace.

yo i got a 2gb jazz drive and wanted to scsi it, which cable do I need. It looks like a little scsi port on the jaz. I got 2 zipdrives, just wanted to put tons of sample cds on it.

Be very careful with that Jaz drive. Whatever you do, don't let it be the only archive of your files. They have a weak history and cannot be trusted.

Peace.
