MPC1000 w/JJOS v.s. MPC2500

I already have an MPC1000 with the JJOS, however there are some aspects to the 2500 I find very attractive - Its got 4 MIDI outputs (which I could definitely use in my studio), more audio outputs, and of course its got the better pads and and more Q sliders.

So that is what I would gain by upgrading. My question is what would I loose? what does the JJOS add to the MPC1000 that the MPC2500 doesnt (yet) Include?

overall, the 2500 is all about convience...thats what you're paying for. The 1000 can do everything the 2500 can. I would purchase a 2500 over a 1000 simply for the better pads and tilt screen. So it's all about how much these luxuries are worth to YOU.

I ended up going for the 2500 for the reasons above, but also because it's laid out better with more room on the console. Buttons are spaced out nicely.

Yeah, I agree with the homies above. We got a 2500 @ the studio, and I got a 1000 with JJ. The buttons bein' spaced out and the tilt screen is the only difference outside what you already mentioned, but you can just cop a laptop stand if you need the tilted angle for your screen bro.

Yeah so many times when I'm doing fast chopping with the data wheel etc, I accidentally hit a button that sends me to another screen, and then I have to re chop all over again....**** annoying. I'm clumsy, being the other problem!
Going to cop a 2500 in the next 2 weeks. Can't wait to smack the shit out the pads....too scared to get hype on the 1000, because I don't want the pads to start fading before I sell it.

Selling my sp 1200 & 3000 years ago to move onto software sampling/beat making, I have been in a consistent state of boredom. I always had way more fun pressing buttons than mouse clicking etc. MIDI pads just aren’t the same to me at least.

Anyway, I basically got a used 1000 from my buddy at Guitar Center to tide me over till I have the full amount for my 2500. We have a 2500 at work and I really do feel like I am going to break my 1000 pads day to day. ha. What’s weird is that my center pads feel way more stiff than the outer pads. Maybe I am just used to the 2500…but I feel you on the not wanting to damage them before you get rid of it. if I damage mine, I won’t get to take advantage of the return for full value that I got in writing (as long as it’s not broken of course).

If it was a JJ 1k then you go to a JJ 2500.

They do seem very similar, and I remember when I was trying to make a decision. At the end of the day, the 8 outs sold me. I don't know how y'all record, but eight outs is a must in 2007. Also having 4 midi outs is an advantage too. To me, the beefiness, tilt screen, better pads, 8 outs and additional midi is def worth the price difference. The 2500 has a JJOS and Akai just released a new OS for 2500 that people are still on the fence about. I love m 2500 though and would only trade up to a 4k. IMO.
