First I want to say that the JJ OS is the truth. Damn I tried both the akai os and the jj os last night and the JJ os just pisses on the akai os. Why is Akai so lame?

Anyway, could the bit grunder effect actually become a real bit reducer like the vst plugin MDA Degrade? It would be nice to simulate the legendary sp1200 sound. JJ would rule the world at that point.

WOW! $30 bucks well spent...

If this effect is in honor of the SP1200, and gives key samples that ring mod type effect, I will jump for joy.
I find most bit reduction vsti plugins to be rather unusable and sucky, so hopefully this one sounds good...

WHOT?!? i am speachless!
i just opend this thread to see how everybody flames nvisiblebeats, because this has been asked for a thousand times before and it obvious jj can not do it because auf the os-size-limitation.
and now THIS?

i can not believe it!

i'm giving people a chance to be more patient with others. that's why i didn't lock the thread. plus i didn't wanna be a dick and flame the dude for his question. i've been there, done that, and had to make peace with a few peeps that i went heavy-handed with.

that said, i'm trying to set a positive example for everyone.
on the other hand, some things need to be handled differently with people who start topics that are irrelivant to this forum, e-beef, spam, etc. etc.

but anyway, i'm still in shock that we're finally getting this new feature.

also, the bit grunger itself still serves a purpose as an overdrive/distortion (which is how akai describes it in the manual).
for some half-decent distortion, use 2 bit grungers linked together.
set the first one to full value of 8, and the second to half value of 4.
also, it should be interesting what can be done with a combination of the bit grunger and the new JJ bit converter. there's lots of experimenting to do. this is gonna be dope!

nothing sounds quite like the sp1200 and similar emu samplers. but some ring modulation VST effects should be good to experiment with in addition to the new feature we're about to receive.

as far as JJ being able to add a ring-modulation effect in the future, that's yet to be seen. but if not possible, i can't complain. we got alternatives.

Assuming this is REAL, what does that say for those who use the DIGITAL OUTPUT which is locked at 16bit?

it only puts a bitgrunger effect on a sample (like the timestretch effect), the bitrate is not changed. so no problems here.

Yeah, I see what you're saying. Plus, we both know why we're are so chilled out and relaxed about the negative effects of this forum, I guess

Your timing was actually good since you asked at a time where JJ didn't bugs on his plate nor was he trying to get some of the more much needed stuff to the OS.
He has pretty much gotten the OS to a point where if he added nothing else there should still be no complaints, yet he threw it out there anyway.
sadess part about this entire JJ nonsense is that he hasn't added a single thing to the 1k/2500 it is still the unit Akai designed and still ships today.
He just made better use of what they developed and based on what he's delivered they designed a pretty nice pair.
So everyone using either the JJ (free or paid ) OS on their 1k or 2500 should go to the report a bug page and say thanks to JJ and at least sign it with your Forum name.
It's always nice to be appreciated.
