pitching down a 12 bit sample waaaaaaay down is such a nice ring
!!!!
idea forming
velocity layers
all 1 sample, 16 pieces of a chop or something on LAYER 1 of your pads.
save the program to its own folder
clear mem
load program/samples
convert all to 12 bit
save samples in folder
clear mem
load first program/samples
convert to 8 bit
save samples
load all samples, 16 bit, 12 bit and 8 bit
create a velocity layer program with each pad having 3 samples, the first triggering from 0-40, 2nd from 41-80, last from 81-127
assign qlink 1 to NOTE ON and LAYER
result: you can sweep through the qlink in play to have your sounds change bitrates.
I'm definitely gonna experiment with this tip.
Thanks for sharing that.

Yes,
I had some one tell me how it was done on the mpc 2000xl last week. I was salty to find out I couldn't convert in my mpc1k. Without having to resample and resample internally and use the bit grunger.
For those with the inside scoop willl the bit grunger still be available to use with the JJ OS?

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh BOooooooooooooiiiiiiiiiy (Flavor Flav)
If this sounds as real as my AKAI S950 - which I somehow doubt - I will probably sell that thing.
Good loking out to nym for the dope layering idea.
So - another feature, huh? Dang, back to the (manual) lab..... again

GREAT!!! This is awesome!
A few Days ago I sent a request to JJ to add this. I said I realized he was running out of space, but if at all possible as one last great feature to add if he could add this...it would be the best thing he could do....and a few days later I see this.......
I don't know if I precipitated this or not....but I'm damn happy to see it!

Antonym wrote:For instance the Reverb on the MPC doesn't sound very good, and I was wondering if it could be improved? Thanks.
pimp: what i suggest is not using the reverb on the mpc1000 as a final say in your reverb attempts. just use it as a 1st kind of idea of what a decent reverb would sound like and then use a better quality direct x plugin when you track out into a software program.
i use the reverb more and more for that reason, just as a kind of "clue"
I use it just because of its sound. It's the same reason I like the delay: it's nicely lofi.

I didn't think that we would get this feature but jj has surpased expections again. If this sounds good maybe I can cross the sp1200 and mpc 60 off of my wishlist(maybe not) Even if this is the last major update that jj gives us it will be the best $30 I've spent to upgrade music equipment in my life. Awesome Job JJ !!!
