how is the factory installed RAM memory? is it enough? Would it fail me during a live show? I see the upgrade is a little pricey. what is the benefit of this upgrade.

I've seen some of you talk about built in effects, what exactly are they?

Is the RAM enough? Is your car fast enough? Is your bank balance big enough? Depends on what you need... 8)

About the MPC1000's onboard FX, start with the manual at http://www.akaipro.co.jp/jp/datalib/dow ... 000_E3.zip , a good explanation of what they can do in Chapter 14 [/url]

That's what I mean - it depends on what you need to do, and you and me both need to do more than the standard memory allows. I'm prob. going to order the upgrade today.

for me the standard RAM has not been a problem. not one single time. but i might work in a strange way compared to most people. i load in samples one by one, i put together a kit from scratch for each beat. ive never needed 800 samples and 10 programs going on at once for a beat. it's more like 30 samples in one program, with maybe a copy of that program mixed a little differently for variations. i use a lot of midi from synths too. so for me, yeah the 16MB has been enough.

not that the extra memory wouldnt be nice...
