mpc 2000 floppy drive failure

I have a 2000 classic and more than half the time of it's use i get a read error from the floppy drive. Can any floppy drive be used to replace the bad one?

Yeah a regular computer floppy drive should work in the MPC2000.

Have you tried cleaning the one you have with a cleaning disk?

Haven't tried cleaning it. Where would I get one? I'll try that process first before purchasing a new drive..

If you do end up purchasing a drive, go to a computer store that has used parts and pick one up. Shouldn't be more than $5. That or cannibalize one from an old PC or a PC that isn't using the floppy drive anymore.
