its hard for some people because they havent ever done anything mpc related before. i was one of those people. i had a roland 707 for a few months and got used to programming drum patterns, but that was it before i got my mpc. i figured if i was gonna spend 5 bills on something that does a little, i might as well spend 12 bills on something that does a lot. good move i think, i havent really bought much else production wise that i use on the regular since then and that was almost 4 years ago. but when i first got the thing, i was like, what? i had no idea what to do. it took me over a week to figure how to save my samples. i would save a sequence, but not the samples in the programs. ha, looking back, man, dam i was a super noob. i remember when i first took it out of the box and turned it on, i was like, wheres the sounds? DUH!!! what an idiot i was. but whatever, some people go different routes, and i think a lot of people that come on here are like me in that they havent really messed around with some of the other budget machines, and just want to go for the gusto. and when they do, the're like, WTF. but hey, if they stick with it like i did, they'll end up loving their mpc and rockin it whenever they can. but i learned 90% of what i know about that machine from playing with it, reading the manual, and playing with it some more. i picked up some tricks from this board, no doubt, but still. i dont have much sympathy for the "how do i sequence, how do i assign them to pads, etc..." type questions.
