I want to lay two seperate note values on two different tracks. HOw do i do this? I want track one without quantization and the other 1/16 notes.

common sense says to record the first track, adjust the quantization and then record the second track.

I did set the quantization to off when i recorded the first track, then the second to 1/16. I went into the first track and it displayed 1/16 after i recorded the second track.

i think i see what's confusing you. try this...

1) turn quantization off.
2) record track 1.
3) move to track 2.
4) set quantization to 1/16th.
5) record track 2.

if you do step 4 before step 3 you end up changing the quantization of track 1 to 1/16th. you don't want to do that.

changing the quantization updates the quantization on the current track that's selected along with setting the quantization for any new notes that will be recorded on any track. get it?
