Seriously can't decide which MPC for me

Ok, so I was checking out the 500. Read good and bad. Fits better in my budget, and I create and edit alot of my samples on the laptop first. But, I hear alot of good about the 1000 and the JJOS, but I hear the pads have issues. I also like the hard drive option.

Which should I get? I'm into the early Pete Rock style and prob won't need to many features, but want something with the classic swing.

Im really stuck since reading the cons of these.

i didnt read the cons all i know is 500 = 4 less pads so in total 4 less notes on tune and also 16 less samples to use in ur program...

It's really annoying that the 500 has less pads. You think Akai would make something compatible with the MPC1K and 2500. The whole point of a 500 would be to be able to have something portable for travel etc.

Get the 1K, no doubt it's worth the extra cash!!!

i was in your boat like 2 weeks ago. until i realized the 1000 used was less than a 500 new. heck its even the same price as a used 500.

i've spent the last 2 weeks completely in love with my 1000. i had a 500 for a few days in March. definately get a used 1000 if price is the issue, it is SO MUCH deeper than the 500. plus JJ OS is badical.

the 300,000 notes with the new JJ OS are worth the money alone, the 500 is somthing id get my nephew for his birthday just for him to mess around with

def get the 1000, u can get it cheaper used

2000xls are going for cheap right now ... i went from a 1k to the 2kXL and wouldnt have it any other way.

1000s are going cheap...I went from a 1000 to a 2kxl and miss the extra features.

but the pads and layout are much better on the 2kxl.

i use it with my computer im into sampling old soul and jazz like pete rock,j dilla, 9th wonder ect
not a massive price differance with the 500 and 1000 if u shop around
but loosing out on a row of pads is the main down side as i see it.

i fill up all the pads a,b,c and d so i can get that choppy sliced effect

i used to own a 2000xl and there aint much differance

I got myself a MPC500, I used to use Yamaha RM1x and RS7000 grooveboxes.

I think the MPC500 is very nice, I don't mis more enhanced functions of its bigger brothers too much (this is my first MPC...). I actualy like the fact that it runs on batteries a lot, although I didn't think much of it before I bought the unit.

I've been thinking about the MPC1000 too, It sure has some more functions (whith JJ OS), if portability is a issue you should realy concider a 500 too.

i'm going to be honest with you. If you can't decide which model is best for you, then just don't buy one at the moment.

I could easily say "yeah cop a blah blah blah"

but instead all I can say is, go to a guitar center or Sam ash near you and sit down and interact with the machine for hours and then see how you feel about the machines and ask yourself which is best for you.

I'd been waiting for a battery powered MPC for ages. The MPC500 is the only MPC that can run off batteries, and in my opinion that's one damn powerful feature that's well worth the money. Pick it up, grab some headphones, walk off somewhere. That's true freedom. It sounds great, feels great and has all the features you need. With the ability to hold 128 programs with the latest OS, that's even more power. Now I can just work with huge one bank of sounds for all my tracks. The 12 pad thing and the small screen aren't even an issue. If they put 16 pads on there and a big screen, then it probably end up being the size of the MPC1000, and no longer as portable.

i say go with the 1k i mean things keep getting better for it but naw i dont see myself on the 500
