i must admit, i still don't use gpe regularly because i can not look at the different layers. wouldn't it be a good idea to put a small "layer"-column next to the "sample"-column, where we could switch from 1 to 4?
say i have sample1 on layer 1, sample2 on layer 2, sample3 on layer 3, 4 is empty. if i switch layer-column from 1 to 3, it shows sample3 at the sample-column, if i switch to layer 4, the sample-column is empty...
what do you think?

plus i want the sample-volume in gpe! if i change volume from 100 to 70, it changes the mixer setting. but i usually use the sample-volume, not the mixer volume. i can't find this in gpe.

about the layer thing : i use simult(you can layer with filters!)
about the volume thing : i don't care, it gets the job done

enter GPE, scroll over A01 or whatever, then hit WINDOW
boom, exactly what you were looking for.

you can't get different filters per layer. you can simult 2 pads and use the filters indiviudually though.

the volume thing does matter. i want relative values ...

it's the same reason you don't automate the master track volume on a mixer unless you absolutely have to or are only limited to straight rides. instead you automate a volume parameter on the sampler or synth (insert fx, sound source, etc) so if you want to adjust the master on a desk, it retains the volume automation relative to other sounds/tracks. this is why i NEVER use the mixer window. there is a difference.

nym: exactly what he is looking for... i dont have my mp in front of me. is that a volume per layer or layers in general window feature?
