Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By kbx_4 Wed Jun 20, 2007 12:28 am
I have a 2KXL and I have a Sun external HD. I connected it to the MP with a SCSI cable and it looks like the MP can "see" it because it is registering the size of the drive on the screen but when I go to save something to the drive or even to try and format it I get a message that says "SCSI not ready". I know you have to terminate the SCSI device but I have no manual for the one I have. It does have a second SCSI connection for daisy chaining devices which I am not using. I read through some posts and saw some mention of a SCSI termination plug - is this what I need ?

If you have no terminator switch on your Hard Drive case then you will indeed need an external terminator.
I am assuming your SCSI ports on the Drive case are 50 pin Centronics.
ie. you use a plug like this.....

So I found this terminator on ebay....

Don't pay more than a few Dollars for one, they are easy to get hold of.

.If your drive uses a different sort of SCSI socket , you will need to get the appropriate type of terminator.

Thanks a lot for the info. Mine is an HD50 type but I did indeed find one for a few dollars on ebay and I'm waiting for it to arrive. Thanks again for the help...
