I'm just learning the mpc2kxl and i can loop a drum track fine and now i want to lay a keyboard track now. I have my midi cables set up and everythng seems cool but after i lay down a keyboard track onto my beat, i can't seem to keep my keyboard sound that i originally started with when i goto a new midi track (it changes to whatever new sound that i use) for example: if i have a piano part and then i try to add a bassline it changes my piano part to the bass voice or sound that i'm currently using. i know there has to be a way to get different sounds from my keyboard onto different midi tracks on the mpc. if i can figure this out i can just dump the tracks on the mpc onto my korg 16 channel mixer and then mix it and add effects and what not but i just need to fgure this part out. thanks in advance.
You have to use a different midi channel and program number for each track that you use on the keyboad. The keyboad and mpc must be on the same midi channel for each track.
Example
MPC TR: 01 S: midi :1A-Device01
Rack unit midi Chnl :01 program #002 (sound)
